I have a week off work and I am making the most of my time! I have a list of things to do like you wouldn't believe!!!Unfortunately though, Ive found new things to add to that list and it seems to be growing, instead of shrinking!!!
I have started Wendy's Christmas stitch along... "Lets Start Christmas SAL" (you can see all about it HERE)
I've finished the first block and it was so much fun... Can't wait for the next one!
I have also finished Natalie Birds :"Sunshiny Day Bag". I love this pattern! Love the stitchery! Very happy with the way it turned out. I have changed the position of the handles as it wasn't sitting quite right so far apart. This also made them a bit longer and easier to put over my shoulder.
I also added a pocket inside and a key ring holder. I'm thrilled to bits with the fabrics as I love wearing black, white and red. This is going to go with so many things!
This is the back. I bought the fabrics when I was on my last retreat at Warwick and actually completed the stitchery on retreat as well. It's a great feeling putting it all together and having a finish.
My "Gossip in the Garden" quilt is coming along nicely. This months blocks include two blocks of hexies. I've finished them and just have to cut them to shape now (I don't really want to cut into them!!!)
As you may know, my eldest son went to New Zealand last January for a 4 week holiday. He fell in love with the place and has been holidaying and working there ever since. (Sad mum here!!!) Anyway.... He's going to get a visit next week and get a little dose of home to cure his home sickness!
My youngest is going over to stay with him for a week and spend some time with him. I would give anything to see these two at the airport when he gets off the plane!!! So jealous and wish I could be going over there too for that week.... but so happy and thrilled for the pair of them.
We had a bit of stress up until yesterday as Jack's passport hadn't arrived and we only had one (yes one!!!) day left before he goes! Nothing like leaving everything to the last minute!!! So pleased to see him pick his passport up!
Okay.... that's it for me at the moment...
I have some serious crossing off of my "To Do" list....
And some time with my boy before he leaves...
Have a great day!

Whilst shopping with my lovely friend, Leona, yesterday I picked up a bag of limes for $1. Bargain!!! Today I started searching for some recipes to use them up. I found 2 I couldn't resist trying.
Key Lime Pie and Lime and Macadamia Nut Fudge. They were a hit. So very, very easy and delicious to boot!
Lime and Macadamia Fudge:
- 400g / 14oz can condensed milk
- 150g / 5oz. macadamia nuts, chopped
- 500g / 1.1lb white chocolate melts
- 2 limes, grated for zest
Key Lime Pie......
- 1 pkt. bickie base (cookie crumb base)
- 4 limes, juiced
- 400g / 14oz can condensed milk
- 4 large egg yolks
Use an electric mixer and beat the egg yolks until they are thick and turn to a light yellow - don't over mix. Turn the mixer off and add the condensed milk. Turn speed to low and mix in half the lime juice. Once the juice is incorporated, add the other half and the zest of one lime, continue to mix until blended (just a few seconds). Pour the mixture into the bickie base and bake for 12 minutes at 150°C / 300°F to set.
This is my recipe folder that I've had for years and holds all my favourite recipes. That's me and my 23 year old son, when he was about 5 years old, on the cover. We are making gingerbread men! Maybe this is where his love of cooking came from???

Some lovely friends of mine and I decided to try a new organic cafe that has opened not too far from where we live. It definitely was a delight for the tastebuds!!!
For morning tea I tried their date and macadamia bliss balls and a macadamia and cacao smoothie. Yum!!! I'll have to go back and try their lunch and dinner menus I think!!!

I couldn't wait to make something with the great sewing themed fabric I bought yesterday. So after work last night (I know I'm crazy! It was after midnight!!!) I made this.....
I made a quilt-as-you go pencil case and little scrap basket.
Fits lots of bits and pieces in it (zips don't scare me anymore!)
I just love this fabric!
I still have plenty left to make a plastic zippy project holder at some stage!
I've also finished Jodie of Ric RaC's cute little "T is for Turtle".
I made my little turtle in a pink felt so she's very girly!
This is her little shell before it was sewn on. All the little "blobs" on the back of the shell are padded.
Have a great day!

I missed my Tuesday with the stitching girls this week, so when Helen said she was doing a quick trip to the Quilters Store for some thread, I thought this was a great idea. I need some thread too!!!
We met the lovely Megan at the Quilters Store, who knew all of us from our blogs (and who made us feel very special!).
This is such a great store and we got everything we needed (plus a bit more!)
My two crazy friends!!! Sandi and Helen!!! They made the day so much fun. Nothing like a good belly laugh, and there were plenty of those!!!
Sandi and I rewarded ourselves with dessert, but we couldn't talk Helen into it. This is what she missed .... white chocolate fudge brownie, with salted caramel sauce and macadamias. Delicious!!!
We then dropped into another fabric shop before home, where another Tuesday girl, Tess, was working. And we created chaos there too!!! These gorgeous fabrics came home with me. But the best part was catching up with Tess.
What a great day! I'm so full from lunch that I need a nap now! Thanks guys for a really fun, spontaneous day!!!!

Today I got to visit the Margaret Olley Art Centre in Murwillumbah. It has to be the most interesting art gallery I have ever been to.
They have totally reconstructed Margaret Olley's house (a piece of artwork in itself) into the art gallery. Even down to the doors and windows.... every room .... every detail has been perfectly reconstructed. The interiors have been filled with over 20,000 items. It is incredible.
