Gail Pan Swap Part 2

Now I can show you what I made for my partner, Fiona, in our Friends in Stitching swap.
This is one of Gail Pans patterns that I have wanted to make for myself as well. It is her Cottage Garden Thread Holder.
I really enjoyed stitching the front and used wonderful variegated cottage garden threads.
Shell star-shaped buttons and ric rac on the front .....
And lots of pockets inside for your threads.
Now to put this back on my To Do list for me.....
I managed a couple of shoofly blocks for my Gossip in the Garden quilt today and hopefully I'll get some more stitching done tomorrow on my day off. Well that's the plan anyway! Love this months block as it has a bit of everything in it - patchwork, appliqué and embroidery.
Have a great week!

Gail Pan Swap

My on line group, Friends in Stitching, have just finished our first swap of the year. The theme for this swap was "Gail Pan designed" and the girls have all made some really gorgeous gifts.
My partner was Roseanne and I absolutely love the bag she has made for me.
The bag is beautifully made, with so much detail and hand quilted goodness. I just love it! The colours and fabrics are perfect and so "me"....
Inside the bag there are heaps of pockets and a great little hanger for your keys.. what a great idea. Razzy has also included her cute little label.

There was also a bag of delicious Easter eggs .... I'll have to hide them!
Just look at that gorgeous hand quilting!
I am over the moon with my gifts... thank you so much Razzy!
Another great swap!!!
As soon as I know my partner has opened her swap gift, I'll be back to show what I made.
Have a great weekend!

52 Week Scrap Challenge and a Bit of Fun

This weeks challenge was a lot of fun and just in time for Easter.
A cute little bunny using up lots of fabric from my scrap basket. I wanted a vintage feel to my mini quilt so I've gone with florals and cream and beige fabrics.
Reverse appliqué again in this project as we did in the heart bookmark a couple of weeks ago. Another great challenge from Anorina and her 52 week scrap challenge.
This months block of Gossip in the Garden is slowly taking shape.
As well I have made a few hexies for a future block as I want these fabrics throughout the whole quilt.
Photo thanks to my gorgeous niece!
On another note - I had a lovely morning with my niece and my sister and mother in law today. We are all enjoying our birthdays this month and celebrated with a bit of pampering with manicures and pedicures - something I have never done before!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed myself and relaxed with the pampering (or should that be panel beating???). I wonder how long they will look like this as I'm back at work tonight!!!!
Even my toes got a make over.
I have to admit I enjoyed this much more than I thought I would!!!! I may even go again!!!! Maybe.....
This is my youngest son with a new album and T-shirt he's bought of a favourite band. Can't believe we are back to buying albums (or vinyls as they're calling them these days!!). I'm loving it as we now have a new record player in the house and all my albums are getting played again!!! I'd hate to guess how many years it's been .....
We are enjoying some lovely rain this week and the lawns and tanks are appreciating it!!!
Hope you're having a great day.

Sunday Stitchers March Get-Together

Last Sunday it was our Sunday Stitchers Get Together for March and it was definitely a fun day! This is a wonderful group of ladies and I love catching up with them all. A few of us are doing Anni Downs "Gossip in the Garden:" quilt and as you can see we have all finished our first block... well that is all of us except for Cheryl! She is such a good sport and had a bit of fun whilst joining in the "progress" photo.

I just love this photo and it makes me laugh every time I look at it. We are all killing ourselves laughing! Maree, De, me, Jeanette and Cheryl.

We celebrate everyone's birthdays each month with birthday cake and fat 1/4's from everyone in the group.
This month it is mine and the gorgeous De's turn to celebrate... and in this photo we have just opened all our fat 1/4 presents.
How lucky am I? These are my wonderful fabrics.... they know me very well!!!
Last but not least.... another photo I love! Maree is usually the one behind the camera and hardly ever in front of the camera. So it was really nice to get this one of her and her Gail Pan block.
It was a wonderful day and there was lots of chatting and laughing and having fun.... and yes! .... I did get some stitching done.
I am slowly getting Rosalie Quinlans stitchery done. It seems to be taking me ages to finish it, but the trouble is finding the time! I really do wish there were more hours in the day. Not to worry.... I will get there in the end.
Hope you're having a great week!

PS Thank you to Sandi and Maree for their photos I have used in this post! xx
PPS we are famous! Check out Anni's blog...

Brisbane Craft Show

Yesterday my Tuesday stitching group and I went to the craft show (because we really needed "stuff" badly!!!).  We started with a delicious morning tea (breakfast for me!) in a great little cafe that was so good, we went back there for lunch!

Found some lovely stalls and great bargains but unfortunately the air con wasn't working so we didn't actually stay for that long. I hope they've got it working now as I really feel for the poor stallholders who have to be there all day.

There was a small, but wonderful display of quilts and I just loved these three. They were incredible....sigh!
I did come away with a few purchases and some genuine bargains, which was great.
Even some scrapbooking supplies snd a cute 3D birdie pincushion.
Oh and this panel jumped into my bag!
On the way home (don't be surprised....) we accidentally found ourselves at the Quilters Store!!! Where more much-needed stuff fell into our bags. I love this olive green pin tucked linen and the cute scissors. The papers were the only things on my list and I need them for my Gossip in the Garden quilt.
Best bargain of the day, though, were these magazines. I absolutely love "Cloth, Paper, Scissors",  but they usually cost about $20 each and aren't easy to find here. I picked these up for a measly $2 each. Bargain!!!!
I had a wonderful day with the girls and it's been so good spending 2 days this week together.
On another note, my first block of Gossip in the Garden, is finished. Just in time for our Sunday Stitchers get together this weekend. Phew!!!!
Hope you're looking forward to your weekend!!! Happy Friday!!!!

Sew Together Bag

I have so many photos and stories to share from the last two weeks.... I've been in Melbourne for just over a week and I went to the wonderful Lets Get Stitched event.  As well I stayed with family and had fun being a real tourist for awhile.... I am so far behind in blogging now that if I don't make a start, I might never catch up.
So..... I will get to Melbourne and all the photos as soon as I can, but tonight I am sharing a sweet project I finished today....It's called the Sew Together Bag.
I found out about this pattern by Sew Demented (I just love that name!!) on The Quilt Barns blog. The beauty of this was it was a Sew Along... and so there were lots of lovely photos and instructions of the step by step process to make this bag. It's full of zips and pockets and the construction of it is just so clever. Zips are not my favourite thing to do, so I thought this would be a great challenge.

These are my chosen fabrics which I bought in Melbourne on our bus tour last week They are mostly from a range by Lynette Anderson.
Now this is the exciting part..... inside is just full of zippered compartments. It was a lot of fun to make and I really thought I'd struggle with it... but surprise...surprise... it all came together nicely!
There is one more longer zip across the top and it forms the handles on each end and closes off the bag nice and neatly. The tutorials on The Quilt Barns blog really helped and make it so much easier to understand the directions on the pattern.
I think I need to buy some more zips..... I feel like making another one now!
Just had to show you one more photo.... of my crazy cat. I can't believe this is where Squeaky decided to have a little nap... right in the middle of the sewing.... and she didn't move either... even when I was sewing right over the top of her. Silly cat!
Off to the craft show tomorrow with the girls....I only need some papers from Sue Daley and some zips... really.... that is all I am going to buy!
Yeah I don't believe that either!
Have a great week!
