Catching Up With Blogging Friends

Saturday was such a lovely day. Helen, Sandi and I were able to meet the lovely Lynda (Lynda in Wonderland) and very funny Diann (Diann's Domaine) for lunch. I haven't seen these two (in the flesh) for ages. It was wonderful to see them both and spend time chatting and laughing and catching up.
We went to a lovely little local restaurant and enjoyed a delicious lunch. They were in no hurry for us to leave so we chatted for nearly 4 hours. It was fun!!!
Back: Lynda and Diann. Front: Helen, Sandi and I.
Thank you for making the time to come and see us! I loved it!!!
This is why I love blogging and meeting friends through Blogland and crafting online groups. You really do meet the most wonderful people!
Hope you're having a marvelous Monday!

Friday Night Sew-In.....

I miss joining in the Friday night sew-in as I work Friday nights. So this time I've done some stitching and finishing before I go to work and a little bit after I got home.  Still on Friday and still in the spirit of getting things finished.
I have finishedy my mug rug for our trip to Melbourne in March. I'm going to the Let's Get Stitched function and this little rug will be my souvenir of the trip when I get everyone's signatures on the back. It's a great idea and I love my one from Adelaide last year.
I've also made a little sneaky bit of sewing (with the help of Squeaky!!!) which I will reveal at a later date.
If you would like to know more about the Friday Night Sew-In or see who else played along, you will find all the info on the lovely Wendys blog....
I wonder what everyone got up to last night?

Happy Birthday!

I have been very slack with my blog lately - but didn't want to miss this quick post .....
Happy birthday to my eldest son today. Another birthday where he's traveling away from home!!!
Have a wonderful day - can't wait to see you when you get back home!
I will hopefully have things back to normal soon and get back into some serious stitching and blogging. (Too much socialising lately!!!)

Catching Up....

Continuing on from the engagement party last Saturday - it has been busy as always.
On Sunday I went to see the Rocky Horror live show with my uncles. I loved it. I've been waiting and waiting to see it.
In fact as I was walking out I told my uncle I want to go again. It was that good. The first time I saw the movie I was in year 10 of high school and I've lost count of the times we saw it at the New Farm theatre in Brisbane where it played for months on end. I've seen quite a few live shows, as well as seeing Reg Livermore play Frank N Furter at the old Rialto theatre in West End (many years ago!). Then there was the "interactive" screening of the movie on Halloween with Jack in 2012. Just love it!
Last night we went out for dinner as James is off to New Zealand for a month. We celebrated another birthday of his that he will be away for!!! 3 years in a row! We had a wonderful dinner (as always at the Burrow) of dips and pizzas and cider.
Back at James' we had dessert that he has been brewing since Christmas. Sultanas marinated in spiced rum with ice cream plus a hilarious game of Balderdash topped off a wonderful night.
I'm missing him already!!! Have a safe trip James!!!
Hope you're having a wonderful week!

A Special Announcement

Back in august last year my youngest son, Jack, announced his engagement to the gorgeous Tori.
I had so much fun making the invitations. The colours were a beautiful pale blue and white .... With a bit of bling.
Just before Christmas they were sent out.
Last weekend they had the most wonderful engagement party.
I just love this photo of the gorgeous pair.
The cake was a delicious mud cake and decorated beautifully.
Tori made a wonderful scrapbook full of photos and everyone wrote in it and left messages and well wishes.
The food was incredible!
It was so good to see all their friends together and enjoying themselves.
The boys favourite high school teacher (music) was there.
And of course there were lots and lots of photos taken.
It was an absolutely wonderful night - in fact it was perfect!!! So proud of Tori and Jack for organising such a fantastic event. Not to mention the wonderful speeches both my boys gave on the night too. Very proud!!!
Congratulations to the happy pair and I wish them a beautiful life together full of love, good health and laughter.

Charm Bracelet, Stitching & Shopping

Just before Christmas I received my second little block charm.
I can't get over how tiny and intricate it is. I have finally got around to making the matching 6 inch block.
I really enjoy paper piecing - once I get my head around what I'm supposed to be doing!!!
Lovely to stitch with the Tuesday girls yesterday - our first day back after Christmas - and do some stitching again!
Today was wonderful catching up with my gorgeous friend, Pam, for breakfast. She is making a quilt for her daughter, so we enjoyed ourselves foraging around all the lovely fabrics at the Quilters Store afterwards. What a great excuse to go fabric shopping!!!
Hope you're having a super week!

A Year of Photos and a New Challenge

It was a lot of fun doing this challenge of "a photo a day" for all of last year. Lots of memories in there - lots of fun and happy pics! I have no problem taking a photo every day (more like the problem is stopping at one!) so this challenge is perfect for me. I have decided to continue with the photo challenge again this year as well as my own 365 project. Last year I completed the blog "365 Reasons to be Happy" and the year before that was my "365 Grateful Journal".  I have been trying to decide what to take on this year. The "happy reasons" was easy but I got so much more out of my Grateful Journal. It really makes you stop and think about everyone around you and everything going on around you.  It is what's important as well as all the little things we easily forget about but are the true things that make us who we are and how we go though this journey that is ours. After talking to mum about how important these Grateful Journals are to us, Mum has one she writes in every day, I've decided to do it again.
The first week of this year has been crazy  which makes for a perfect start to the journal. My husband started the longest renovation ever 13 years ago and took the bath out of our bathroom (along with a wall, the floor, the sink and the ceiling!). So you can picture what this room looks like - it's not pretty!!!  But the worst part was not having a bath, only a shower, all those years. This week my husband and I spent 2 days (and a night!) redoing all the plumbing in the laundry and bathroom and have put the claw foot bath back in and rearranged the laundry. Just in time too! We have had an extreme heat wave here for the last few days.
I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed that first bubble bath in my new/old bath while it was 43 C with no air conditioning!!! It does not take much to make me happy!!! I was in heaven!
So I am very grateful for all the hard work to the bathroom renos....to having my bath back... To finding some cool relief.
Now to today's grateful part ....
I have always loved cute yellow rubber ducks but have never bought them because - well no point when you don't have a bath is there? Today my Jack came home with a surprise for me -
Yep! A whole bag of them!! I was thrilled to bits at such a wonderful, thoughtful thing to do! Like I said.... Very grateful!!!!
So what are you grateful for today? Sometimes it's something huge and sometimes it can be something very small!
I will continue my journal on my separate blog HERE and try to post daily as I did last year. I'm looking forward to it ....
Hope you've had a great start to the new year and I hope 2014 is a wonderful year for you!!!
