Road Trip!!!!

Our Tuesday stitching group has two Teresa's in it - and wouldn't you know, we share the same birthday as well.  So to celebrate this year, we took a little road trip to the Sunshine Coast.
These beautifully wrapped presents were waiting for me.
Inside were this awesome quiche plate and pancake mixing bowl. They match my little measuring cups I bought in Warwick last week. They were so sneaky getting these for me - right under my nose!!! Lots of underhanded, behind your back shenanigans going on!!! I absolutely love them!
I also was very spoilt and received this beautiful scissor charm for my bracelet from Tereasa. I am so spoilt and so lucky to have these thoughtful, beautiful friends.
Now to the road trip...
Our first stop was Lynette Anderson's  The Little Quilt Store.
What a gorgeous shop this is.
I might add none of us knew exactly where we were going today - we just wanted quilt and patchwork shops and a nice cafe or two. Poor Helen was the driver and at one stage she had two back seat drivers with their google maps going on their phones as well as her in-car Nav Man (who didn't have a flippin clue!!!) all telling her where to go. You can imagine the laughing and chaos that was going on inside that car. Man we laughed a lot yesterday!!!
So back to our trip..... We loved this shop and all bought something we "couldn't live without".
I got a nice little stack of fabric, wooden cotton reel and trimmings and a cute little scissor fob.
The lady in the shop offered to take a photo of us all which was really nice.
After a cuppa and a croissant at a little "dodgy" cafe we hit The Patchwork Angel. And wouldn't you know it - more stuff we can't live without.....
Lovely fabrics, a notepad and mini cotton reels.
The boot of Helen's car was looking pretty good about this time!!!
We then found a lovely cafe with delicious food and ate ourselves silly. There were ice coffees and mango smoothies and toasted sangers and Sandi and I shared a couple of very delicious meals. We then had to try the cafés homemade vanilla slice which was heaven!!!! Best vanilla slice ever!!!!
We found a couple more shops and some bargains that came home with us.
This gorgeous fabric and my bargain for the day - 3 cups and 4 saucers for $5 (the lady had broken one of the cups!).
It was  then time to hit the road home. It is usually a trip of about 2 hours but the home trip was a lot longer in a bumper to bumper slowly moving jam. However.... We found this to be hysterical and much to the amusement of fellow traffic jammers, laughed all the way home. Photos were taken of weird ducks, windows mysteriously went up and down, suggestions were made by the driver (that I ignored) and Norreen found the best seat in the car!!!! We had a ball yesterday! I was so exhausted when I came home that the lounge became my best friend and dinner was forgotten.
Thank you girls for a fabulous day. This will definitely go down in our Road Trip history as one of the best ever.
Love you all to bits - this has been another great birthday.
Teresa xx

A road trip with friends to visit quilt shops with stops for great food along the way....can't go wrong with that! You may need to extend the celebration period to include some recovery time x
