My online group are putting together some sewing kits for the Tassie Fire victims. Along with the usual sewing stuff like scissors, needles, fat quarters etc... I have made a thread catcher, pincushion and a bag to put it all into.
I bought these fabrics when I was in Melbourne for just this reason and I'm really happy with the way they all turned out.
Now I've just got to get to a post office to send them!
Just a quick update on the floods around us. I took this photo yesterday when my son and I went to see if we could get into work. The roads have all been flooded and are taking their time to go down.
These two photos were taken the day before on local roads. It was hard to believe what we were seeing, especially when the sun was shining the skies were blue....
We have been told the roads into town are now open and we are both going to work today... And it's started to rain again!!! I'm really hoping we're able to get back home when we finish at midnight tonight!
It's been hard to get a lot of normal everyday supplies like bread and milk. We're lucky we don't need fresh water as we've managed to have power the whole time. We're on tank water and if we don't have power, we have no way of getting water into the house.
We have been so lucky... a bit of inconvenience with the flooded roads is our only problem. There have been so many people without power and even worse for all those people who's houses have gone under and they have lost everything... I cannot imagine how heart breaking that would be. My thoughts go out to those who are doing it so tough.
Fires, tornadoes, floods... what a month and what a fury Mother Nature has unleashed!
I am off to have my second lot of eye surgery tomorrow...Definitely not looking forward to that... but I was trying to get clothes, washed and dry before then.. Not going to happen today!!!
I'll leave you with an aerial view of our town (courtesy of Rebel FM)....This is Mt Lindesay Highway.... and "Lake Jimboomba"!!! It is really hard to believe the volume of water we've seen.
Stay safe everyone!
