Swaps, Ribbons and Hippos

The last swap before Christmas with my on line group, Friends in Stitching, has just finished. The project for this one was to make a needlecase for your partner. This is the gorgeous needlecase (and pincushion) I received from my partner Leanne.
I just love the cute little birdie stitcheries and the beautiful fabrics.. this is so me!!! Thanks so much Leanne.
This is the gift I have sent to my partner, Kerry. She is overseas at the moment - actually she was at the Quilt Festival in Houston on opening night - (lucky, lucky girl!!!). So I will wait to show you what I have made Kerry until she gets back home.
This is the cute little hippo I made - just a couple more photos! He is one of Jodies (of Ric raC fame) latest cute little animal patterns. I had so much fun making him and he's all stitched by hand, which meant I could take him with me to finish him off when we were stitching at the laundromat last Tuesday (earlier post!!).
I've stitched mine in wool, instead of felt, as I had some lovely patterned and coloured pieces. This means his seams are a little fluffy, but I still love him... and he is definitely colourful! Now to think of a good name.....
Just had to show you these beautiful cotton tapes I received in the mail yesterday.
They are made by lillalotta who specialise in beautiful handmade cotton tapes. The variety is amazing and I struggled with which ones to buy.... but my love of all things French, rose, butterflies... definitely won out!
So that was October!!! I'm pleased to see that this months collage of photos shows lots of handmade goodies and lots of memories of days out with friends and family (as well as lots of yummy food!!!) It's been a great month... can't believe we are so close to Christmas now!
Hope you're having a wonderful weekend!
Teresa xx

Wow, love those tapes, and your needle case is so cute, love the birdy. Your hippo having freyed edges gives him character - he turned out lovely and I think his name should be Launder (after the Laundromat)...lol
