Finishes, Swaps and Decorations

I have been working on lots of secret presents lately and I haven't been able to show much of what I have been sewing and stitching.....
Now that my friend Virginia (no blog....but she should have!!!) has opened her birthday present... I can show you the finished Friendship Stitchery I made for her.
This is a Natalie Bird pattern with Theodora Cleave wooden buttons.
It was lovely to stitch and I love the frame that finishes it off!
I forgot to photograph my other swap parcels that I've already sent off...
but this is one that is being sent tomorrow....
With a hand made card...wonder where it's going???I have also been in a Christmas Ornament swap with my blogging group Friends in Stitching. This is what I sent to my partner Kerri........with another hand made Christmas card. This is the gorgeous ornament my partner Sarah sent to me.
I just love it... and there's another Theadora Cleave button!! - they're so cute!
Thanks so much Sarah xx
I've also been making these cute little ribbon Christmas tree decorations.
I found the easy-to-follow tutorial on Annette's blog "Sunshine Yellow"...
They are so lovely and easy to make.....
Actually if I hadn't run out of beads, I would have made more!!!! I must get some pearls like Annette used.
So nice to be able to show you some finishes!!!
Hope you're having a great week!

Tuesday Treasures

After reading this weeks heart breaking post of Tuesday Treasures on Melodys blog (The House on the Side of the Hill) it really made me stop and think.
My treasures this week and forever are my sons.
They mean everything to me and I love them with all my heart. Being their Mum is the best job in the world.... the toughest, but the best!!!
Melody asks that we take the time to think of those we love
and to tell them so.
I just did that!

What Makes Me Happy 28/11/2011

Making me happy this week is this little parcel of goodness.
I found a wonderful blog called We Like to Make Stuff and from there I found Lea's other blog Little Bits of Pretty where she sells lots of lovely vintage bits and pieces...
What I especially love is that all money raised from the sale of Little Bits of Pretty is donated to the Childrens Hospital at Westmead.
My lovely little parcel turned up and it was wrapped beautifully in old tissue paper dressmaking patterns.
Inside was all my lovely purchases wrapped and presented so beautifully, I didn't want to open any of it (almost!!!)
I bought some lovely vintage buttons and trims, some gorgeous labels and gift tags and some vintage sheeting.
It was such a pleasure just opening and looking at all the beautifully wrapped pieces and throughout the whole bag were beautiful little paper butterflies.
I can't tell you how much I enjoyed opening it all! It was a lot of fun and really made me smile!
Thanks so much Lea.. I just love my Little Bits of Pretty.... sooo much!

Nothing has been wasted... my Squeaky just loved that tissue paper wrapping and slept in it for the rest of the day!!!
What makes you happy?
I hope you can find something (or someone) who makes you happy and puts a smile on your face today.
Happy Monday!

Jack's Back!

Yay!!! Jack's back from Schoolies. For someone who wasn't going to go... he managed to spend 5 days at Schoolies on the Gold Coast. Here's some photos of the views from his room up on the 21st floor at Surfers Paradise...
The pool, grounds and barbecue area!
Just across the road from the beach and very close to all the schoolies action on Main Beach.

He had a wonderful time, made lots of new friends and strengthened bonds with his old friends, went to the Beach parties, stayed awake all night and slept all day (well he did one day he he!)He even brought home a lovely souvenir gift for me... how thoughtful is that?
3 gorgeous Australian thimbles... I was blown away!
I'm so glad he's home!
Have a great weekend everyone!

What Makes Me Happy 21/11/2011

Last Friday my youngest son, Jack, graduated from High School.
In the morning, at school, he had his Graduation ceremony and I couldn't have been more proud. He has made such wonderful friends over the years and it was lovely to see them so proud of themselves and their achievements (and happy that school is finally over he he!)The last time we'll be seeing the notice board at school.
In the evening Jack had his Formal and it was very exciting and a lot of fun to see all the kids get dressed up and let their hair down.
I thought Jack and his girlfriend looked absolutely stunning. My brother in law lent us his Porsche so the kids could make their entrance to the Formal in style!I've known so many of Jacks friends for years and watching them grow up into young adults has been nothing short of amazing. Look out world... the boys have all grown up!!!
After my husband drove them to the Formal I got to have a ride in the car to deliver it back to his brother. That was soooo much fun!!!!
Jack had a lovely dinner and some dancing to celebrate.
There was a party afterwards and now he's spending "Schoolies" week down on the Gold Coast.
My baby isn't a baby anymore...
Hope you are all having a Happy Monday!

Bargains, delicious fabrics and stitching, stitching, stitching....

Yesterday I had a LOT of fun at my favourite little Quilt shop "Homespun & Beautiful"...
She is having a huge sale and I came home with some wonderful bargains.....
So I didn't just stitch, laugh, catch up with the girls and eat goodies....
I had a lot of fun bargain hunting and feeling like Christmas had come early!
I am so in love with this range of Hatched and Patched fabrics...all 30% off!
I had a bit of help deciding to relent and buy this wonderful stack of fabric, but I'm so glad I did!!!! (Thanks Linda!!)
Some very pretty florals to go with my vintage chenille fabrics.... also 30% off.
These gorgeous fabrics are for Christmas presents...
These beautiful Christmas fabrics only $10 a metre...
I love the fabric with the cardinals on it.
If you want to know more about her sale... just go HERE to find out.
Now it wasn't all frenzied buying of course... I did do some stitching.
This is a little project I'm doing from last months Homespun magazine.
I got the buttons and hanger from the Craft show... now I just have to finish the stitching.
I have also been doing lots of secret stitching... things I can't show you just yet....
Lots of presents coming up....
Stitching for Christmas...
You get the idea...
Christmas will be here before you know it... so I had better get a move on.
Hope you're all keeping up with your Christmas stitching and sewing!
Hopefully I will have more to show you soon...
Have a great week!
