What Makes Me Happy 12/9/2011

Monday again!!! Hopefully you're not sick of me going on and on about Jack and his sport, but I he has made us all very happy again!
Last week he went to the Regionals Trials. He was competing in the 400m running and the triple jump... unfortunately both his events were on at the exact time, so he decided to enter the triple jump as it is his stronger event. He broke his and his schools record again and came 2nd...
this time jumping 12.29 m!!!!
To go further in this competition and to compete in the State (Queensland) Titles he had to jump 12.30 m.... Can you believe it.. he was 1 cm short. He was told he would be given consideration!!!
We were thrilled as this is the furthest he has ever got in his sport. A 2nd place in the Regionals!!! On Friday he received a phone call at school saying he had made the team to try out in the Queensland Trials. This means (at the moment) he is in the top 8 triple jumpers of his age in Queensland. We are so excited and so proud. I have no idea where the trials are going to be or when, so I'm hoping to find out today.
Well done Jack!!
Also, this weekend, we went out to dinner with friends of ours. We've been friends for over 25 years and it got me thinking...
How important and wonderful are the friendships we have that stand the test of time.
We celebrated our friendship of 25 years and all the great memories of those years came flooding back. It was so good, we laughed so much. We've shared lots of barbecues and lunches and dinners at each others places... Their 3 boys and our 2 boys spending lots of wonderful times together playing and growing up...
We've been to parties together, weddings together and funerals together.
It was such a great night, going back to their place for coffee after dinner..
Photos came out and videos....
These times are very special and I'm so glad we made the time to get together again...
We always say "We must do this more often"....
We MUST!!!
Happy Monday to you....
Hope you get to do something that makes you happy today!

Hi Teresa, Congratulations to your son Jack what a wonderful time of his life and to have achieved so much. Good luck to him as he progresses.
I agree old friends are very special. I have three wonderful friends and we have been having monthly lunches now for almost 30 years. We don't see each other any other time except for extra special occassions but our lunches continue to be so special to us as we have so much in common.

Oh wow, yay Jack!!!!! How exciting for him and for you guys!! Bet he is training his heart out! And such a gorgeous pic of you and your friend, long time friends are the best aren't they... my best friend and I always laugh about that saying that says 'we will be friends until we are old and senile, and then we will be new friends'!

A great achievement for Jack, this could lead to much bigger and better things, (maybe of the olympic kind!) Watch this space aye??
Friendships that last 25 years are fairly rare, given that people move around a lot these days, thanks for sharing your lovely get-together!
