Finishing Some More Projects

I am lucky enough to score some extra time to myself at the moment (with hubby away and kids on school holidays) - so I have been sewing up a storm... and it's been soooo much fun. I made the above bag for Tereasa's shop, but I like it so much I will have to make another one for myself.. It's called Frilly Dilly Bag by Janelle Wind and it is such a clever little design and goes together easily.

I have also finally backed and quilted my bargello quilt that I made a few weeks ago.

Made this cute little Hatched and Patched Christmas bag (called The Christmas Goose) - also for Tereasa's shop.

... and these little bags from Fairies in my Garden... sorry you have to look at them sideways - sometimes it changes the photo to the right way up, and sometimes it doesn't....
I have also been working on my Christmas Swap presents, and am almost up to date... It's such a good feeling when you start ticking things off your to-do list (and I have an awfully long to-do list!!)
Thanks for stopping by, I am off to the in-laws for dinner tonight (yummy greek food!!)

Dust Storm and Big Trip

Hi everyone, thought I would share some photos I took yesterday of the dust storm that hit south east Queensland. I have never seen anything like it.. The above photo is of our street taken just after lunch time.
This photo is of the sun trying it's hardest to get through. The wind was also a major factor and was pretty ferocious. This is what happened down the street at our local shopping centre....

One of the awnings above the car park came down and unfortunately there is a car still under there...it is holding up the awning!!!! The sound the wind made going through the sails was incredible. Today everything is covered in dust!! and I mean everything!! Not too sure about drinking our water for a while (we're on tank water and the roof of our house would be full of dust!)

On a lighter note... Today my husband and mate headed off on a trip they have been planning for years...They are off on a motorbike trip up to Cape York (to the very top of Queensland). They will be driving to Cairns, then the rest of the way will be on the bikes. I think they are mad...but what do I know??? I asked him how long it would take, and the answer went from 2 weeks to maybe 6 months (if the rains come!!! ha ha).
Thanks for stopping by

Secret Angel Swap

Look at all the goodies I received from my Secret Angel....How lucky for me she lives in America and was so thoughtful to send over some Halloween surprises. From the swap I received a flower pot pincushion (so cute) and a gorgeous beaded fob for my scissors.
But just for a lovely surprise I also received some wonderful smelling hot apple cider pot pourri (the smell has gone all through the house and smells sooooo good), a halloween notepad, some orange hot chocolate mix and the yummiest pumpkin shaped sugar coated marshmallow... they are really good....My son and I have just about eaten them all...don't think they will last too much longer. I love my presents ..... Thank you so much Secret Angel xxxxx
My partner also asked if we celebrated Halloween here in Australia and I thought I would share with you a photo of some of the things I have made for Halloween in the past couple of years.

There is the wool felt pumpkin bag, some wooden stacked pumpkin boxes, an old wooden witches shoe, painted with ghosts and scary things and of course my witch (complete with black cat bag!!) Hope you enjoyed reading along and sharing.
I am looking forward to the next 2 weeks as the boys are on school holidays...yippee! Things are so much more relaxed and I get so much more done when they're home.
Take care everyone

A couple of finishes....

This is the first block of 'Girls Day Out' that Helen and I are slowly working on. There is a lot of stitchery on it (which was a bit daunting at first) - but I am really enjoying working on the blocks. (Don't tell Helen!)
I am so glad Helen is doing this with me as she is a constant inspiration to keep going (probably would have put it away in the beginning). We have worked on a few of the blocks and as I finish them completely I will take some more photos. The quilt has the most gorgeous buttons for each block as well.

I have also made a few Christmas stockings from Moda's HoneyBun strips. They were so much fun to make and turned out really lovely..I've made 3 but am having trouble parting with them, so I might have to make some more. They look big in the photo, but they are about 10 inches in length. They would look great in a swag.....

I received my Secret Angel swap parcel yesterday...it was very exciting, so I will post again soon to show you all the goodies I received. Hope you all have a great weekend
Teresa :) xx

Some finishes....

Lots of things being made around here lately. There is also lots of secret things being made around here for Christmas swaps, that I can't show you yet..... This is a bag I made for Tereasa's shop...it's from Kookaburra Cottage, called 'Sunday Picnic'. It's a large picnic bag with heaps of pockets (11!!!) I liked it so much I think I will make the picnic blanket to go with it.

Sorry the colour isn't too good in the photos... It is a really lovely apricot colour, from the Patisserie range from Moda.

I've also made a couple of the Loyalty Card Wallets. They were so much fun to make and super easy. Hopefully they will become a couple of stocking stuffers for Christmas. (May have to make some more)

I have also made this 'envelope' bag. It is so clever...you take a square of fabric. Fold it, stitch it, fold it again and a few more stitches later...voila! you have a bag complete with 4 outside pockets. The size of the square you start with can be any size and to show you a comparison... the large bag started off at 115 cm square....

....and the little bag started off at 50 cm square.

This photo shows you the difference in the sizes... The big bag I have quilted, but the smaller bag is just lined with another fabric, no batting.

They were a lot of fun to make. Hope everyone has a great weekend...I am off to do some more stitching ...housework will have to wait a little longer.

Happy Birthday Mum!!

My mum has been travelling around Australia for just over 6 years now and at the moment she has just arrived in Carnarvon, WA. Before this she was in Geraldton and while there started a computer course. Now she can check my blog and see what I've been up to and see the photos. So this is a special blog that I hope she gets to see soon. She has just celebrated a birthday and I wish more than anything that I could see her in person and give her a big hug and kiss.
Love you so much Mum and hope you are staying safe. Enjoy every second, every day.
PS This is an early photo of my mum that was taken when I was in my teens. I just LOVE this picture.
So if anyone in Carnarvon, sees this blog (!!!!) look out for her in her huge bus and say "Hi" for me.

Baby Quilt No. 6

I have just finished my 6th baby quilt (this year)! This one is for my new niece Porsha... The quilt is made from some gorgeous baby flannel from Tereasa's shop...It is so soft and pretty.. There is a blue and green flannel range for boys as well and (I think) it is even cuter.
Hope this is the last baby quilt I have to make for a while....

There is a lot of 'secret' stitching stuff going on .... so I can't show too much at the moment... but I have so many things at various stages, it can be a bit of a dilemma as to which project I am working on today....

This is just a small sample of some really beautiful cards I purchased from a very talented photographer - Tracey... I am very happy with the cards and her prices are soooo good. Lots of great ' quilter' type cards to choose from too.
Well I had better stop blogging and get stuck into my christmas swaps... Hope you all have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by.
