Another finish

I have finally finished my nephew's new baby boy quilt. After inspiration (and a challenge!) from Sarah, I decided to make a Stacked Coins Baby quilt from Moda this time. It went together really well and was lovely and easy to make. I am now making another one in pink for a friends new baby girl. That brings the total of baby quilts this year to 6 (5 girls and 1 boy). The fabric I used on the back is from a purchase years ago and I was originally going to use it on something I was making for my boys. I was very happy to finally use it - and the piece I had was exactly the right size I needed.

These are the strips for my nephews baby quilt. It is a Stacked Coin Baby quilt that Sarah inspired me to make. The colours are a bit washed out in the photo as they are a gorgeous dark red and royal blue. The alternate stripes are in white and I shall show the finished photo soon (I hope). Unfortunately I can't show what else I've been up to as I have two secret swaps going on and they aren't due for revealing just yet. Just thought I would share a photo of my sewing buddy - Squeaky... I can't do anything without her sitting right on top of what I am doing. Here I am finishing off a project today and she has just got to be in my face, waiting for a pat. Love her to pieces!!

Last Friday night I was lucky enough to see Pink in concert. This is the 3rd time I've seen her and I can't believe this concert was even better than the last. She is amazing...she can sing, dance, do aerial stunts/trapeze, play guitar...you name it...such a wonderful night. Hope everyone has a great weekend...

Paper Bag Swap

These are the goodies I received from my partner in the Paper Bag Swap.... There were chocolates too, but they didn't make it to the photography sitting. (They were very nice by the way). I have just noticed my partner has already finished my pressie (talk about fast!) so I had better get started. I know exactly what to make.....

Shrinky "Stuff"

I have been playing with this new "shrinky stuff" that Tereasa got into the shop and it has been a LOT of fun. This is one of Melly & Me's patterns using the 30% shrinky. It comes in 15% also, but the 30% is more dramatic. I love the feel of the fabric after applying the shrinky and it makes it very strong, great for bags. Below is a close up to show what it does to the fabric - sorry it is sideways, but I couldn't get the photo to go up the other way...anyway you get the idea!
Hope everyone had a great long weekend....it was nice to get some sewing done and have the kids home for a change.

Raggy Edge Quilt

I just love raggy-edge quilts, specially when they're made in flannel fabrics.
When this fabric came into Tereasa's shop I couldn't wait to make a cozy quilt for winter out of it. The snowmen are so cute and I really love the colours in this range. I had the quilt cut out, sewn up, binding on, washed and dried (twice to make it nice and raggy) in a weekend. Can/t complain about that.
